1. How Dr. Seidener Plans to Bring School Spirit Back to Beach High
Dr. Seidener has stated that her biggest goal to achieve at Beach High is to bring school spirit back! Obviously, if this is so important for her to achieve, then it means something to our school. She has decided to make each Friday “Spirit Day” in our school. I think that this meaning so much to her, obviously has to mean something to the staff and students in our school. I think that digging a little deeper, we can find out why this is so important to her, and why exactly students don’t have the “school spirit” she’s looking for. This is not a humerous story, but I think it would interest people to read what others think about Spirit Day every Friday at our school, or the High-Tide Pride our principal is trying to bring back, or what people think in general about School Spirit. I plan on speaking with the Principal, the staff at Beach High, and different students to get answers to different questions.
2. Miami Beach Senior High Alumn and Students Become Recognized
In our school, we have focused on many different things. We have focused on the wins and losses of sports teams at our school, rock ensemble, even had a story on the jazz band. In this all, we have not had any mention of the students who have the talent to sketch, paint, or just make art. I am not completely sure if ALL who read this would be interested but I am sure that some would, especially those interested in art and deserve to be recognized, not specifically, but those artists in general. Do most of us even know that two of our own Beach High students had their paintings sent to the airport for a contest? Do we know what happened to the alumni of our school who were in art classes at their time here? Once again, this is no humerous story, but I think it would be nice to read about the art class, or the students in it, or even the alumni who WERE in it, and their plans for the future. If not everyone is interested in this story, then that is fine, but I’m sure that those who take the time to read this article, will enjoy it. I plan on speaking to the art teacher, some art students, some artist who are not even in art class but love art, students in general about it, and maybe even alumni from our school possibly.
3. New Attendance and Tardy Policy at Our School
As of the start of the new school year, new policies have been enforced. We have the dress-code policy, but most of all is the new attendance and tardy policy being enforced at the school. As soon as the bell rings, we will hear an announcement come on saying that all teachers are to lock their doors and not let a student in unless they have a pass. Students must go to the cafeteria and get a late slip. If you do not get to school before (8:15-8:30 I don’t exactly remember), you cannot go to the class until the bell for the next period rings. There is also a new attendance policy that states if you recieve 5 or more absences in a half-credit class, you will not receive credit for that class. I think students would be interested reading why this policy has been so strictly enforced, or knowing whether it is a district or school policy. I think it would also be nice to hear what students, staff, and administration all have to say about these new policies in our school. I plan on speaking with administration, teachers, and different students about their opinions on these policies.
