Hey guys!

Sorry that I couldn’t make it today.  There is a rock ensemble concert today, and I had to help set everything up.  Well, here are my articles.  My Festival of Arts article should be good, but I KNOW that my article on Turnitin.com needs a bit of help.  Any suggestions, let me know please.

Thanks,

Beachcomber Subscription Form and Ad Contract

December 7, 2007 · 1 Comment

Hey guys.

Hopefully you guys will have people who are willing to subscribe to The Beachcomber or place an ad in it.  As I mentioned during my presentation, there are a couple of things that I am looking for.

As for the ad contracts I would like the following:

  • The name of the business placing the ad
  • Phone number
  • Fax Number
  • Address
  • Who you spoke to
  • What the result was (this should include a summary of what they said; not just a yes or no)

As for the subscription forms, we really do not need much info; maybe their name and phone number would be good, but it is not needed.

Just leave the information as a comment please.

Thanks guys,

Corina Grazutis

Presentation for 12/05/07

December 5, 2007 · Leave a Comment

Well, no story put up yet, but I do have other things going on here.

First of all, I would like to apologize for not having this up sooner.  WordPress was not letting me post for a while but now it does so here we go:

As everyone knows, I’m trying to get a fundraiser for The Beachcomber going.  I put in the activity request form and now I am just waiting for the yes or no from our acitivities director.  Going on the assumption that it is a yes, I do need some help.  We will be selling tickets for what I decided should be no more than $4.00.  As the staff for The Beachcomber, I am counting on you guys to help me sell these tickets and collect them the day of the performance.  It will be held at our school and there are a few entrances.  If anybody has an idea on how to collect the tickets, it would really, really help.

Next, as we should all be aware, The Beachcomber gets the money for publishing from ads or donations that people wish to give.  Mr. Weiss and I have made a new ad contract for The Beachcomber and I have printed out 200 copies.  I think that if we were to go in person to ask a business to place an ad in the paper rather than calling them on the phone, we would have more of a chance of actually getting the ad.  I am giving each of you 5-10 copies of the contract (depending on what we decide is right) and I will present my idea today on how it should all be done and what I am looking for.

We have also made a subscription form for The Beachcomber.  This form will be sent out to Beach High alumni and the PTA.  The subscription is 4 copies of The Beachcomber for $20.00.  This is also something we need to work on.  Since it is a new idea, I will need some help getting it started.  If you guys have any ideas about who would be interested in purchasing The Beachcomber subscription, please let me know.

I will explain everything further today, but this is a genrealization of what I have been doing, and what I need some help in.

Thanks,

Corina Grazutis

School Spirit News Outline

September 4, 2007 · 3 Comments

Name: Corina Grazutis Story: Dr. Sidener plans to bring school spirit to Beach High Section: News Deadline: People I need to talk to for quotes / information When?

1. Dr. Sidener

2. Many students in our school

3. Students from her past schools .

4. Faculty and staff at Beach High

Six initial questions I’ll ask:

Who?  Who will this affect besides students?

What? What will this do for our school? What else can be done to increase school spirit at Beach High?

When? What do you think about the “School Spirit Day” every Friday?

Where? How has having school spirit helped other schools?

Why? Why has this become your first goal for Beach High? Why is having school spirit so important? Is school spirit necessary?

How? How do you plan on bringing school spirit to Beach High? How do you feel about Dr. Sidener trying to bring school spirit back to our school? What do you think about “Spirit Day” Fridays?

Other questions I’ll need to ask:

Where can I get information about former schools Dr. Sidener has worked at?

After reading this story, the reader should have a clear idea of: Dr. Sidener’s idea about school spirit at Beach High and students’ opinions on it.

Story Ideas: Proposals

1. How Dr. Seidener Plans to Bring School Spirit Back to Beach High

Dr. Seidener has stated that her biggest goal to achieve at Beach High is to bring school spirit back!  Obviously, if this is so important for her to achieve, then it means something to our school.  She has decided to make each Friday “Spirit Day” in our school.  I think that this meaning so much to her, obviously has to mean something to the staff and students in our school.  I think that digging a little deeper, we can find out why this is so important to her, and why exactly students don’t have the “school spirit” she’s looking for.  This is not a humerous story, but I think it would interest people to read what others think about Spirit Day every Friday at our school, or the High-Tide Pride our principal is trying to bring back, or what people think in general about School Spirit.  I plan on speaking with the Principal, the staff at Beach High, and different students to get answers to different questions.

2. Miami Beach Senior High Alumn and Students Become Recognized

In our school, we have focused  on many different things.  We have focused on the wins and losses of sports teams at our school, rock ensemble, even had a story on the jazz band.  In this all, we have not had any mention of the students who have the talent to sketch, paint, or just make art.  I am not completely sure if ALL who read this would be interested but I am sure that some would, especially those interested in art and deserve to be recognized, not specifically, but those artists in general.  Do most of us even know that two of our own Beach High students had their paintings sent to the airport for a contest?  Do we know what happened to the alumni of our school who were in art classes at their time here?  Once again, this is no humerous story, but I think it would be nice to read about the art class, or the students in it, or even the alumni who WERE in it, and their plans for the future.  If not everyone is interested in this story, then that is fine, but I’m sure that those who take the time to read this article, will enjoy it.  I plan on speaking to the art teacher, some art students, some artist who are not even in art class but love art, students in general about it, and maybe even alumni from our school possibly.

3. New Attendance and Tardy Policy at Our School

As of the start of the new school year, new policies have been enforced.  We have the dress-code policy, but most of all is the new attendance and tardy policy being enforced at the school.  As soon as the bell rings, we will hear an announcement come on saying that all teachers are to lock their doors and not let a student in unless they have a pass.  Students must go to the cafeteria and get a late slip.  If you do not get to school before (8:15-8:30 I don’t exactly remember), you cannot go to the class until the bell for the next period rings.  There is also a new attendance policy that states if you recieve 5 or more absences in a half-credit class, you will not receive credit for that class.  I think students would be interested reading why this policy has been so strictly enforced, or knowing whether it is a district or school policy.  I think it would also be nice to hear what students, staff, and administration all have to say about these new policies in our school.  I plan on speaking with administration, teachers, and different students about their opinions on these policies.
